In hawaii there was much debate about killing only the bigger sharks ....?

This was after a couple of swimmers had been killed by tiger sharks. What is it called when the local authorities let fishermen kill only the bigger sharks for a while to kind of "get even" I saw it on shark week last year and can't remember what it is called.
