What is best in interior wall paints?

my walls are particleboard walls. i want to paint them a beige color. but i seen some that was latex interior wall paint is that what i need? it had a 6 year warranty on the can. my living room is decorated in magnolias, my curtains are a burgundy color, i have hardwood flooring no carpet, my rugs on the foor is squares are burgundy with a tan middle square in the center. my furniture- coffee tables and entertainment center and other tables are cherry oak wood. my sitting furniture has some tan or beige and some burgundy colors in it one oversized blue recliner also. so would the beige color paint work with these colors now they are just white with a magnolia border around the center of the wall, also should i have a multicolor wall like over the border one color and then under it another or what? i appreciate all the help.
