Can stretching tone the body?

i dont mean 5-10 warm ups. i mean full body 30mins to 2hrs worth of stretching. i do this every other night, when i'm not working. i'll just be watching movies and stretching the entire body. i intended it as a stress reliever and to increase flexibility but i recieved a few comments that i looked thinner and toned. was it the stretching or most likely something else?
