Looking to turn my job as a cook into a career with schooling?

i work in a steakhouse. the owner gave me a job as a dishwasher when i was down and out. within a year i advanced to salad and appetizer cook. i enjoy this job but i wonder if taking a cl on cooking will earn me more money. i want this to be a successful career but right now im barely making ends meet with what i earn. any advice and personal experiences is appreciated. i researched on google but got confused with a flood of information.
